The Right Feel For Your Table

Every one knows that to make a dining experience as good as possible you not only need tasty food but you also need to make sure that the utensils you place on the table add a positive touch to the whole dining atmosphere. The best way to do this is to take a look at some of the various tableware collections that are now available from some of the most highly regarded tableware designers. Choosing the correct collection will make sure you have the plates, dishes, and bowls that will make your dining experience into a truly memorable occasion, something even more important if you happen to be having guests for dinner.

It is particularly important to get well-designed tableware if you are having a party, because the tableware is one of the things that many of the guests will remember along with the brilliant food that you cooked. One of the most common types is melamine tableware, although many people do look at plastic tableware if they are having a party that is much more informal. However, melamine is a great material to use, and there are many different melamine tableware designs available, particularly some very lively designs that can be used to gave a very modern and contemporary feel to it any dinner party. for instance, there are many Chinese tableware designs available, which many people use even though they may not be cooking Oriental food. Some people may look at this type of tableware as disposable, but by getting high quality melamine plates and bowls it can be possible to keep these in good condition for many years.

For those who want something really special, pewter tableware can really fit the bill, although you have to remember that pewter prices can be quite expensive, although it really will add something special to your table. Many people use this kind of design for Christmas tableware, since pewter can add a really festive feel to any dining experience. There are many antique tableware designs in pewter, so you may need to do quite a bit of searching before you find one at a decent price. Antique tableware can be found by searching some auction sites such as eBay, or also looking at specialist antique sites run by specialist tableware supplies.

12-inch dining plate

Of course, no mention of tableware would be complete without looking at some of the offerings from Royal Doulton, a company responsible for some of the most beautiful tableware ever created. Plates, bowls, cups, serving plates... all these are available from this great tableware manufacturer. Sizes can range from the usual 12-inch dining plate, right down to the smaller 6 inch serving plate [or bread plate as it is sometimes known]. There is also a 15-inch serving plate or platter available in many of the designs, which can be great for serving a side of beef or other gastronomic confection. Included in some of this great porcelain tableware are Asian or Japanese designs, which, although they may be more suited to Oriental cuisine, can easily be used for Western cuisine in order to give an extra design flavour.

The material you choose for your tableware is also very important. As mentioned above, melamine is a great choice for many people, particularly because it is very hard wearing and has a wide range of designs available. However it should not be forgotten that as well as the more usual porcelain, there is also a wide range of other materials which can make a difference to your table setting, including clay, stone [often known as stoneware], and even wooden tableware. Tableware made from wood can be great for serving ethnic dishes, particularly Indonesian and Southeast Asian food.

Square plates for style

You may be looking for some kind of discount tableware, but it is usually not a good idea to go for the very cheap option as you may find that this will quickly begin to look shabby, which will affect the whole dining experience. The best thing to do is to pay money for some high quality tableware and then concentrate on finding the right design and set for you. For instance, it can be possible to use other things than the usual round plate, since there are now square plates, hexagonal plates, and even triangular plates available, all of which come in a wide range of designs, everything from the ethnic to the plain, with a wide range of colors also available, including standard white and light blue, right up to vivid red, yellow, and even pink!

This shows that even mainstream tableware designers are now adding some amazing elements to their collections, so it is not totally a case of buying the usual dinner plates, bowls, and salad dishes, but also a case of thinking about how all the different color combinations and tableware shapes act together to create a truly memorable table setting. The best place to look is at some of the specialist tableware suppliers that can be found online by simply going to a local department store you're pretty sure to find many tableware collections that will really give you an idea of what is available.

I really like the idea of a Mediterranean or tropical tableware collection, because I want something that really brightens up my dinner table. I might choose something in melamine, and the information about how easy it is to look after was really helpful.

I have been looking for a set of tableware for quite a few months and the info on this website has really given me some great pointers. I especially want a set that has a nice soup bowl for serving, and all the extra bits such as a sugar bowl and a sauce bowl or jug.
